are any of these any good?
B'Twin Rockrider 560
Voodoo Bizango
Boardman Comp
Whyte 605
Specialized Rockhopper
Cube Analog
realise there's a mix of 29er and 650b, would prefer a 29er for my size and current type of riding, but not averse to a 650b if it's the right fit. Random links probably not where they'd be purchased
any others to look out for/demo in that price range? ____________________ Observation is the greatest source of wisdom. |

Too late now, but I'd have recommended the Boardman anyway.
Good level of kit for the price, and nice frames ____________________ Current Ride: Daytona 600 |

thanks Paris2, decided to spend a bit more and get the team instead of the comp, because better bits and also preferred the 29er over the 650b.
Had a ride yesterday, wonderful bike, although I think I need some padded shorts, my butt has not needed to endure that level of discomfort for quite some time. ____________________ Observation is the greatest source of wisdom. |

I probably would have gone Spesh, but I owned one back in the day, before I got into the road stuff so maybe a little biased.
Some of the Boardman stuff is great for the money. ____________________ My Flickr |

Specialized have always seen me right, I haven't owned many others but I'd always go to them. ____________________ Well, you know what they say. If you want to save the world, you have to push a few old ladies down the stairs.

Everything I've read on the most of the cycle forums seems to suggest that Specialized is generally good, but also overpriced for what you actually get.
Saying that my missus has a Specialized that's still going strong after years.
But I'm really happy with the boardman ____________________ Observation is the greatest source of wisdom. |
